Welcome to the Luzerne County Professional Firefighter Web Site.
The Local 840 membership consists of 67 firefighters from 8 municipalities in Luzerne County. We are affiliated with the International Association of Firefighters and the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association. Members operate under collective bargaining agreements unique to each town but retain union representation as a group.
The local is governed by a President, 2 Vice Presidents (west side and east side) and a secretary / treasurer.
REITREE ACHEIVES EMERITUS STATUS
Past Eastern Vice President, Phil Pesotski (retired member, Plains Twp. Fire Department) has been awarded the position of Vice President Emeritus. Phil has become the first officer awarded the Emeritus status within the Local 840. Congratulations Phil and thank you for your many years of outstanding service not only to the Plains Township Fire Department and its residence but also to the Local 840 and all Union Professional Fire Fighters everywhere.
Plains Twp. Announces Retirements
At a recent meeting representatives from the Plains Twp. Fire Department announced the following retirements:
Chief Jack Baranski
Captain Edward Nishell
Firefighter Phil Petotski
In addition they also announced Deputy Chief Carl Baker was promoted to Fire Chief and Firefighter Stephen Motil was hired to fill one of the vacancies. Congratulations on a well deserved retirement to our brothers, to Chief Baker on his promotion and Firefighter Motil!
